Interested in joining our lab?
🧠 Thank you for your interest in being a part of our research team! We are seeking dedicated Research Assistants (RAs) who will help conduct lab research and then go on to pursue amazing science and related careers!
‼️Please note that successful applicants will likely be those considering graduate school or MD-PhD programs (even if not 100% sure, that's OK!) and who have completed psychology and/or neuroscience coursework. For more info, visit the Training and Teaching page.
☕ Once you have filled out the Google form using the button below, please send us an email at scoop.lab.utexas@gmail.com with the subject title “Prospective SCOOP Lab RA: Your Name” and a little blurb about you (year, major, interests). We will review your Google form submission and will be in touch about whether we think you are a good fit for the lab!
👩🔬 Note: We are no longer recruiting for Fall 2025. Please check back in November/December for Spring 2026 recruitment.
For prospective PhD students, please note that Dr. Cooper is currently only accepting students from the UT Interdisciplinary Neuroscience Program (INP). For prospective psychology students, particularly those interested in clinical and cognitive psychology, he is available to co-mentor with UT Dept. of Psychology faculty on a case-by-case basis (feel free to mention potential co-mentorship in your application materials).
Applications for Fall 2026 matriculation: Dr. Cooper will be reviewing neuroscience (INP) graduate student applications for this cycle. Please note that in the interest of a fair application process, he cannot set up individual meetings or answer emailed questions regarding your specific application. Please make sure to review information about fit with the lab and what PhD students do here, as well as all info about the INP admissions process.
We are currently recruiting a postdoc! See here for more details.
Dr. Cooper is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to join the lab in the near future. Successful postdocs in the lab will have a PhD in clinical or experimental psychology, neuroscience, or a closely related field, and have substantial interest and expertise in psychopathology and functional MRI + related methods. We are particularly interested in clinical psychology PhDs with a background in adolescent anxiety and trauma. If you think you are a good fit, feel free to reach out to Dr. Cooper directly and include a CV and brief statement of interests.
