SCOOP Lab
Statistical and Cognitive-neuroscience Operationalizations Of Psychopathology Lab
How does protective become pathological?
In the SCOOP Lab, we use psychological, neural, and quantitative sciences to understand how adaptive threat responses become maladaptive and contribute to the development and persistence of anxiety, obsessive-compulsive, and trauma-related psychopathology. Our ultimate goal is to improve the conceptualization, classification, and treatment of psychopathology.
Much of our current research is based on associative learning theory, also commonly known as Pavlovian or classical conditioning. We use multiple methods in the lab to study the brain, behavior, and individual differences in symptoms, thoughts, memories, emotions, and personality. We are a psychological and neural sciences research lab that produces research with strong clinical relevance, particularly in relation to exposure therapies.
If you are interested in joining our team as a research assistant or graduate student, participating in one of our research studies, or would like to get in touch with us or find directions to the lab, please see the links below.
We are located in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences,
